Meeting of August 23, 1912.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the La Salle Hotel, in the city of Chicago, at 12 M., on Friday, August 23, 1912, pursuant to the following notice, which was sent out by order of the president of the board on August 17, 1912:

By order of the President of the Board, a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois has been called to meet a t the LaSalle Hotel, in Chicago, on Friday, August 23, at 12:00 M., to consider reports of committees, and such other matters as may be presented by the President of the University, and other business which may properly come before the meeting.

When the board convened the following members were present: Mr* Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch, Mr. Hoit. President James was also present. There being no quorum, the board adjourned.

MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AUGUST 23, 1912. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the La Salle Hotel, Chicago, immediately following the adjournment of the special meeting of the board on August 23, 1912. All the members of the Executive Committee were present, namely, Messrs. Abbott, Grout, and Hatch; also Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, and Mr. Hoit, members of the board, and President James.

SETTLEMENT WITH THE COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS.

President James presented the following communications from the comptroller and the legal counsel of the University with respect to the settlement with the College of Physicians and Surgeons (these communications being the certificates required under the action taken by the Executive Committee of the board on July 5, 1912, p. 70):

COMPTROLLER'S STATEMENT.

August 8, 1912. President Edmund J. James, University of Illinois. DEAR S I R : I enclose herewith a statement of the receipts and expenditures of the College of Medicine from September 1, 1910, to July 1, 1912. Eight thousand seventy-eight dollars and fifty-three cents ($8,078.53) is without question due the College of Physicians and Surgeons by the conditions of the lease for that time. I also enclose a copy of the inventory showing the apparatus, etc., purchased in the year 1910-1911 which you directed to be stamped as belonging to the University of Illinois. The item three thousand five hundred dollars ($3,500) is not supposed to be of this class. Sincerely yours,
