On motion of Governor Dunne, Professor Fairlie was granted leave of absence as requested. At this point Governor Dunne withdrew.

S W I T C H T R A C K TO STORAGE YARD.

(11) A request from Professor James M. White, Supervising Architect, for authority to lay a switch track from the interurban line to a suitable location for a storage yard for coal on the property recently acquired by the University east of Goodwin Avenue, at an estimated cost of twelve hundred fifty dollars ($1,250). On the recommendation of President James, and on motion of Superintendent Blair, this recommendation was referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, with power to act. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Moore. MEETING OF COMMITTEE ON BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS CALLED. President Abbott, as Chairman of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, announced that he would like to have a meeting of the committee in the Trustees' Room at the University, in Urbana, on Saturday, December 20, 1913, beginning at 1 P.M. At this point Governor Dunne rejoined the meeting.

ADVISORY COMMITTEES, C O L L E G E OF AGRICULTURE.

(12) A recommendation from Dr. Eugene Davenport, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station, with reference to the constitution and appointment of certain advisory committees, proposing the adoption of resolutions similar to the following: WHEREAS, The Advisory Committee relationship has proved profitable to the work and the service of the Agricultural Experiment Station; and WHEREAS, The form in which appropriations are now received operates to terminate the legal existence of these committees; therefore, be it Resolved, By the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois that the continuance of these committees be secured by the following plan of procedure: 1. Each of the agricultural organizations of the State to be hereinafter enumerated shall be invited to submit a list of ten names chosen from among the most progressive and representative farmers of the State. 2. Upon the recommendation of the President of the University the trustees shall elect from each list a committee of five in such a way that one vacancy shall occur each year. 3. After the Jftrst year each association shall be invited to submit a list of three, from which one shall be chosen In the manner prescribed above. 4. These committees shall serve without recompense except for actual expenses. 5. The service of these committees shall be invited in an advisory capacity as heretofore with reference to the lines of work which may be most profitably undertaken by the various departments of the Agricultural Experiment Station and the best methods of making the results available to agricultural practice. 6. The following associations shall be invited to submit lists and to enter into this advisory relationship: Illinois Farmers' Institute. Illinois Dive Stock Breeders' Association. Illinois State Horticultural Society. Illinois Corn Growers' Association. Illinois State Florists' Association. Illinois State Dairymen's Association. 7. The board may alter such rules and regulations a t will. On motion of Governor Dunne, the consideration of this matter was deferred until the next quarterly meeting of the board. QUARTERS FOR THE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY. (13) A request from Professor W. B. Day, Acting Dean of the School of Pharmacy, that the University Comptroller be authorized to renew the lease for the quarters now occupied by the School of Pharmacy for one year from May 1, 1914, and to secure, if possible, an option for a further renewal of this lease for one year from May 1, 1915.
