T h e o r c h a r d h a s been u s e d for s p r a y i n g a n d r e n o v a t i o n e x p e r i m e n t s , a n d t h e 76-acre t r a c t h a s b e e n p l a n t e d w i t h s o m e 400 v a r i e t i e s of a p p l e s a n d p e a c h e s w h i c h h a v e been b r e d for t h e p u r p o s e b y t h e d e p a r t m e n t . W e also h a v e c o n s i d e r a b l e s m a l l f r u i t a r e a on t h i s place. T h e p l a n t i n g s of b o t h s m a l l a n d o r c h a r d f r u i t s will be g r e a t l y e x t e n d e d this year. T h e only t r a c t w h i c h w e h a v e l e a s e d a t t h e p r e s e n t t i m e is t h e 19-acre Egging-, t o n o r c h a r d 4 % miles w e s t of F l o r a in C l a y C o u n t y . Adjoining t h i s t r a c t w e h a v e f o u r t e e n a c r e s a t w h a t w a s k n o w n a s t h e H a n n o n o r c h a r d , w h i c h h a s been u n d e r o u r supervision for t w e l v e y e a r s . T h e 14-acre t r a c t is u s e d b y t h e d e p a r t m e n t for fertilizer e x p e r i m e n t s . T h e b a l a n c e of o u r e x p e r i m e n t a l w o r k h a s been a n d will c o n t i n u e for s o m e t i m e t o be, c o n d u c t e d in c o o p e r a t i o n w i t h t h e o w n e r s of o r c h a r d s , w h e r e v e r w e c a n m a k e t h e m o s t s a t i s f a c t o r y a r r a n g e m e n t s for t h e p u r s u a n c e of t h e w o r k . D u r i n g t h e p a s t t h r e e y e a r s w e h a v e h a d t w e l v e a c r e s a t N e o g a in cooperation w i t h Mr. H . A. A l d r i c h ; a t A n n a t w o a c r e s in t h e A n d e r s o n o r c h a r d ; a n d a t Griggsville five a c r e s in t h e T u r n e r o r c h a r d . I n a d d i t i o n to t h e o r c h a r d w o r k , w e h a v e h a d e x p e r i m e n t a l v e g e t a b l e w o r k a t A n n a , Cobden a n d K i n m u n d y , in c o o p e r a t i o n w i t h t o m a t o a n d m e l o n g r o w e r s . T h e s e a r e a s , however, h a v e been s m a l l , n e v e r m o r e t h a n t w o a c r e s in e x t e n t .
