The president presented also the following requests from Major B. C. Morse, Commandant and Professor of Military Science: ' (a) For an appropriation for the purchase of certain equipment for the regiment and band, the items and the estimated cost of each being as follows:

For the Band— 16 drums, $10.00 each. 16 bugles, $5.00 each.. 16 cords, $1.00each... 1 bass drum, $75.00.. For the Regiment— 1 U. S. silk flag, $75.00....= 1 Regimental flag, $100. 3 battalion flags, bunting, $10.00 each 47 sabers, $9.00 each • 40 belts, $2,00 each. 500 jrards of canvas, at 20c a yard Making covers and repairing racks... Grand total.

President James introduced Major Morse, who was presented to the members of the > board and made a fall statement in regard to the needs of the military department. • Mrs. Bahrenburg moved t h a t authority be given for the purchase of these articles,- and that the sum of twelve hundred fifty dollars ($1,250) be appropriated for this purpose. ; The motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch, Mr. Moore; noes, n o n e ; absent, Mr. Crebs, Governor Deneen, Mr. Meeker. . (b) For authority to complete the organization of the University regiment as a regiment of infantry by the creation of the two grades of captain and regimental quartermaster, and captain and regimental commissary, with £he further recommendation that the special scholarships given to the other commissioned officers of the regiment be assigned to these officers: On ^notion of Mrs. Evans, and by the following vote, the authority was given, and the special scholarships were assigned: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch, Mr. Moore; noes, none; absent, Mr. Crebs, Governor Deneen, Mr. Meeker.

APPROPRIATION TO BE A S K E D EOR T H E COLLEGE OF MEDICINE.

The Committee on the College of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy presented the following report:

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: The Committee on the College of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy 'met pursuant to a call by the chairman on.Oct. 14, 1910, in the Trustees' room, Natural History building, University campus. Mrs. Mary E. Busey, ^chairman; W. L. Abbott and Allen F. Moore, members of the committee; Mr. Fred L. Hatch and President James were present.
