that the fund shall be assigned among these departments upon the recommendation of the dean of the Graduate School approved by the president of the University. ACOUSTICS OP AUDITORIUM. 7. Letter from James M. White, supervising architect of the University, accompanying a report from Dr. Watson upon investigations which he has. made in regard to the improvement ©f the acoustics in the Auditorium.' 8. Statement in regard to the salary of Mr. R. T. Stull in the Department of Ceramics. Voted on motion of Mr. Blair t h a t in view of the fact t h a t Mr. StulPs work and responsibility are considerably increased by the resignation of Professor Bleininger in the department of ceramics, the salary. of Mr: Stull for the present academic year be increased by four hundred dollars ($400) above the amount fixed in the budget, making the salary two thousand dollars ($2,000) per annum from Sept. 1, 1908. APPOINTMENTS. 9. The following list of appointments which have been made in accordance with authority given by the Board of Trustees since the last meeting of the board: Frank Chester Becker, instructor in Philosophy, in place of* Professor Guy A. Tawney, resigned, for the academic year 1908-09, at a salary of $1,000 for the year; work and salary to begin Oet. 1, 1908. Stella Bennett, order assistant in the library, in place of Helen B. Calhoun, resigned, at a salary of $65 a month, from Oct. 1, 1908, until Aug. 31, 1909. Mary P.; Billingsley, catalog assistant in the Library, in place of Lois. A. Reed, resigned, at a salary of $60 a month from Oct. 1, 1908, until Aug. 31, 1909. • ' Beulah A. Burroughs, stenographer to the University Librarian, at a salary of $50 a month for twelve months, work and salary to begin Sept. 1, 1908. Willard Leo Egy, research fellow in the Engineering Experiment Station, with a stipend of $500 for the academic year beginning Sept. 1, 1908. Arthur S. Funk, graduate assistant in the Department of Chemistry, in place of Guy Conroy, resigned, at a salary of $30 a month, work and salary to begin when Mr. Funk reports for duty. Barry Gilbert, secretary of the Law Faculty, to succeed Mr. McGovney,. resigned, the remuneration to be $100 a year. Allecandre Arsene Girault, assistant in Entomology, for the ten months beginning Sept. 1, 1908, at a salary of $120 a month. Clara L. Gridley, order assistant in the Library, in place of Alice M.. Paddock, resigned, at a salary of $60 a month, beginning Dec. 1, 1908, and continuing until Aug. 31, 1909. Antonio Guell, research fellow in the Engineering Experiment Station, for the two years beginning Sept. 1,-1908, at a salary of $500 a year. Joseph Gladden Hutton, assistant in Geology, in place of Mr. Knirk, resigned, at a salary of $75 a month, beginning Oct. 19, 1908, and continuing until June 30, 1909. Wilbur Clinton Maddox, research fellow in the Engineering Experiment Station, with a stipend of $500 for the academic year beginning Sept.. 1,. 1908. Clarence Eugene Noerenberg, research fellow in the Engineering Experiment Station, with a stipend of $500 for the academic year beginning Sept. 1, 1908. Helen Faye Noon, stenographer to the dean of the College of Agriculture, in place of Grace Maxwell, resigned, at a salary of $65 a month, work and salary to begin. Sept. 1, 1908.
