Comptroller. Appropriations were made as requested by the comptroller and by the following vote: Yeas,, Messrs. Abbott, Davison, Grout, Hatch Moore, and Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mrs. Busey and Mrs. E v a n s ; nays, none; absent, Governor Deneen, Messrs. Blair, Crebs and Meeker. THE RELATION OF THE UNIVERSITY TO THE COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS. On the evening of Tuesday, April 12, 1910, an informal conference was held between the members of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois and the members of the Board of Directors of the College of Physicians and Surgeons at the La Salle Hotel in Chicago. There were present from the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, Messrs. Abbott, Grout, Davison, Blair, Hatch, and Mrs. Evans. From the Board of Directors of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Messrs. Steele, Byford, Bacon, King, Pusey and Davis. The president of the University was also present. After a full discussion of the present situation, a joint committee was appointed consisting of the president of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, Mr. W. L. Abbott, and Dr. D. A. K. Steele of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, with such other members as these two should appoint. Subsequently Messrs. Hatch and Davison of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, and Messrs. Pusey and Quine of the Board of Directors of the College of Physicians' were appointed on said committee. After various conferences this joint committee succeeded in coming to a tentative agreement which was incorporated in the following memorandum: Memorandum of agreement entered into April 26, 1910, by Dr. D. A. K. Steele, Dr. Win. E, Quine, Dr. W. A. Pusey, Dr. Chas. Davison, Fred L. Hatch, and W. L. .Abbott, which agreement it is proposed shall be recommended to the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois and to the Board of Directors of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, as a basis for a new contract to supersede, on July 1, 1910, the existing contract between the two parties: , First—The existing contract to be terminated.' Second—The College to give to the University a two years' lease of its real and personal property and of its name and good will, which lease at the end of two years is to be renewable for a like period, and again at the end of that extension for another two year period, all at an annual net rentaL of $18,500.00. -
