The secretary presented reports of fees due. from students of the U n i versity as follows: University students at Urbana, second semester 1908-09; summer session, 1909. Academy, second semester, 1909. College of Medicine, June 1 to Oct. 1, 1909; year ending June 1, 1909. School of Dentistry, year ending June 1, 1909. School of Pharmacy, year ending June 1, 1909. This report was referred to the Finance Committee.

APPOINTMENTS MADE BY PRESIDENT JAMES.

The secretary presented the following report of appointments made to fill places created by the budget of J u l y 2 1 , 1909, and n o t filled at that time. Also appointments to fill vacancies caused by declination and resignation: • . Archie R. Alger, instructor in Civil Engineering, at a salary of $100.00 a month for ten months, beginning Sept. 1, 1909. W. E. Alley, mechanician in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, at a salary of $85.00 a month for the year beginning Sept 1, 1909. P. G. Allison, assistant chemist in the Laboratory of Physiological Chemistry, at a salary of $70.00 a month for ten months, beginning Sept. 1, 1909. Winifred L. Amos, stenographer in the office of the High School Visitor, at a salary of $55.00 a month from Sept. 1, 1909. L. E. C. Ashley, assistant in Architectural Engineering, part time, at a salary of $45.00 a month until Feb. 1, 1910, in place of C. F. Kelley, resigned, salary to begin when he reports for work as certified by Dean Goss.
