PROCEEDINGS OF T H E BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF T H E University of Illinois FOR THE YEAR ENDING AUGUST 31, 1909. Meeting of September 29, 1908. The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the University, beginning at 9:0Q o'clock- a. rm Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1908. The members present were: Messrs. Abbott, Davison, Grout, Hatch, and Lehman, and Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Busey; absent:. Governor Deneen, Messrs. Madden, Blair and Meeker. President James^ was present. Mr. Grout, who had been appointed by Governor Deneen to fill thevacancy occasioned by the death of Mr. McLean, had taken the bath of* office before the meeting. Mr. Madden, Mr. Blair and Mr. Meeker, who had been appointed' by Governor Deneen to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of Mr.. Kerrick, sent letters stating t h a t they were unavoidably absent. The secretary presented the minutes of fhe regular meeting of J u n e 8,. 1908, and the special meetings of J u n e 20, 1908, and J u l y 3, 1908.
