Meeting of July 14, 1909.

A special meeting of the Board of. Trustees of the University of Illinois was held a t the Palmer House in Chicago J u l y 14, 1909^ pursuant to the following notice which was sent out by the secretary J u l y 7, 1909: Upon the call of the president, Mr. W. L. Abbott, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at 10:00 o'clock a. m., Wednesday, July 14, 1909, at the Palmer House in Chicago, to hear reports of committees; to consider communications from the president, and to transact such other business as may be duly presented. When the board met pursuant to the above notice, or shortly thereafter, the following members were present: Messrs. Abbott, Crebs, Davison, Hatch, Grout, Meeker and Moore and Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Busey; absent, Governor Deneen, Mr. Blair and Mrs. Bahrenburg. President James was present.

DISPOSITION OF SPECIAL E N G I N E E R I N G COLLEGE STATION FUNDS. AND EXPERIMENT

Dean Goss was, by invitation, heard with regard to the use of the $160,000.00 especially appropriated for the maintenance and extension of the Engineering College and Experiment Station. H e urged that none, or if that could not be, t h a t very little of1 this speciaLfund be* used for the payment of salaries in the college and station.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM P R E S I D E N T J A M E S .

The president of the University submitted the following matters for consideration: 1. A list of names, submitted by the University Committee on Accountancy, of suitable candidates for the appointment as member of the Board of Examiners, in place of Mr. Gregory, whose term has expired. The list submitted was: Silas H. Strawn, R. W. Childs, Fletcher Dobyns, all of Chicago. Voted t h a t the president of the University should invite these men in the prder named, to serve in place of Mr. Gregory on the board of examiners. 2. A statement from Miss Mary M. Wetmore in regard to the action of the committee appointed by the Board of Trustees to pass upon the class memorial offered by the class of 1908.
