T h a t it shall be t h e duty of t h e A g r i c u l t u r a l E x p e r i m e n t Station to discover a n d d e m o n s t r a t e t h e best methods of producing plants, cut flowers a n d vegetables u n d e r glass and t h e most effective remedies for disease a n d insect enemies of t h e same, to investigate and d e m o n s t r a t e the best varieties a n d methods of producing o r n a m e n t a l trees, s h r u b s a n d plants suitable for public a n d p r i v a t e ground in t h e various soils a n d climatic conditions of t h e State, a n d to disseminate information concerning t h e s a m e ; a n d t h a t to c a r r y out t h e provisions of t h i s section, t h e r e be, a n d hereby is, a p p r o p r i a t e d the s u m of eight t h o u s a n d dollars ($8,000) a n n u a l l y for t h e y e a r s 1909 and 1910: Provided, t h a t the w o r k u n d e r t a k e n and outlined in t h i s section shall be carried out in lines to be agreed upon by t h e director of t h e A g r i c u l t u r a l E x p e r i m e n t Station and an advisory committee of five, to be appointed by t h e Illinois State F l o r i s t s ' Association. SEC. 8. T h a t it shall be t h e duty of t h e College of Agriculture, t h r o u g h its d e p a r t m e n t of Household Science, to m a k e such investigations and give such i n s t r u c t i o n s and d e m o n s t r a t i o n s as a r e calculated to advance t h e a r t of practical housekeeping in t h e State w i t h special reference to supply practical i n s t r u c t i o n to those desiring to t a k e special courses in t h e science r e l a t i n g to and in t h e a r t of practical housekeeping, and t h a t to c a r r y out t h e provisions of t h i s Act t h e r e be, a n d hereby is, appropriated two t h o u s a n d five h u n d r e d ($2,500) per a n n u m , for t h e y e a r s 1909 a n d 1910. SEC. 9. T h a t t h e committees r e p r e s e n t i n g the several associations h e r e i n n a m e d shall meet a t such times a n d places as m a y be designated by t h e dean of said college, or t h e director of t h e A g r i c u l t u r a l E x p e r i m e n t Station, or upon request of a majority of t h e committee; t h a t t h e y shall serve w i t h o u t compensation, except for expenses, to be paid out of t h e respective funds, and t h a t said committees shall m a k e to t h e i r respective associations, a t t h e i r a n n u a l meetings, full reports of t h e work in progress u n d e r t h e provisions of t h i s Act. SEC. 10. T h a t t h e A u d i t o r of Public Accounts is hereby authorized a n d directed to d r a w h i s w a r r a n t on t h e State T r e a s u r e r for t h e s u m s h e r e i n appropriated, upon the order of t h e c h a i r m a n of the Board of T r u s t e e s of t h e University of Illinois, countersigned by its secretary, a n d with t h e corporate seal of said University, and no installment subsequent to t h e first shall be paid by t h e t r e a s u r e r , nor w a r r a n t d r a w n therefor u n t i l detailed accounts, showing' expenditures of t h e preceding installment, have been filed w i t h t h e Auditor of Public Accounts: Provided, t h a t no p a r t of t h e funds h e r e i n appropriated, except in section 1, shall be used for s a l a r i e s of t e a c h e r s : And, provided, further, t h a t a n y revenue a r i s i n g from t h e operations of t h e several sections of t h i s Act shall r e v e r t to t h e respective funds from which obtained for further extension of t h e w o r k outlined.
