PUEOHASE OF COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS.

The following report was received from the Committee on the College of Medicine, which was directed to confer with a commitee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons with regard to terminating the contract now existing between the University and the College of Physicans and Surgeons by purchasing the property of the college. The report was received for record and, after hearing Drs. Steele and Pusey of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the recommendation with regard to the purchase was referred for consideration in connection with the report of the Committee on Legislative Askings.

December 11, 1906. To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: T h e Committee on t h e Medical Colleg-e appointed w i t h P r e s i d e n t J a m e s t o investigate a t w h a t price t h e p r o p e r t y of t h e College of P h y s i c i a n s a n d Surgeons could be acquired in t h e n e a r f u t u r e by a p p r o p r i a t i o n b y t h e Legisl a t u r e , w i t h o u t w a i t i n g for t h e p r e s e n t c o n t r a c t t o expire, m e t a c o m m i t t e e from t h e c o r p o r a t i o n of t h e College of P h y s i c i a n s a n d Surgeons. I t was m u t u a l l y agreed by t h e committees to recommend: 1. T h a t t h e p r e s e n t c o n t r a c t should be a b r o g a t e d a n d a n n u l l e d . 2. T h a t t h e notes given by t h e college corporation t o t h e University u n d e r t h e c o n t r a c t , a m o u n t i n g to $19,600, be cancelled. 3. T h a t t h e University p u r c h a s e t h e p r o p e r t y of t h e College of P h y s i c i a n s and Surgeons a t a price to b e d e t e r m i n e d by a p p r a i s a l of t h e a c t u a l of t h e t a n g i b l e p r o p e r t y b y capable d i s i n t e r e s t e d a p p r a i s e r s . By m u t u a l a g r e e m e n t t h e a p p r a i s e r s w e r e selected as follows: 1. To value t h e b u i l d i n g s : W. C. Z i m m e r m a n , S t a t e Architect, a n d architect of t h e h i g h school b u i l d i n g ; Beers, of Beers & Beers, a r c h i t e c t s . 2. To value t h e l a n d : J. A. Wendall, of J. A. W e n d a l l & Co., r e a l estate. To value t h e e q u i p m e n t : George T. K e m p , Professor of Physiology, University of Illinois; George P. Dryer, Professor of Physiology, College of Physicians and Surgeons.
