BOND FOE ADDITIONAL R I F L E S .

The secretary presented a communication from Colonel Fechet stating that he has procured two hundred and forty additional rifles to the value of $4,766.40, for which a bond must be given by the University to the United States in amount $9,532.80. . Ordered that the president of the board of trustees, Mr. S. A. Bullard, prepare and execute such bond.

AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE AND EXPERIMENT STATION.

President James presented a communication from Dean Davenport making recommendations concerning the expenditure of the Adams fund. This matter was postponed for future consideration. Also recommending that certain requests for appropriations be made of the Legislature in the general bill. These were considered in connection with the report of the Committee on Legislative Askings. Also a recommendation for the preparation and publication of a biography of Professor J. B. Turner. This was referred to the Committee on Publication for consideration and report. Also a statement with regard to the Armour scholarships as follows:

THE ARMOUR SCHOLARSHIPS. Mr. J. Ogden Armour of Chicago has pledged a fund of $5,000.00 annually for the endowment of twenty scholarships to be awarded to worthy students desiring to pursue courses of study in agriculture, the same to take effect next year.
