T h e Field Museum of N a t u r a l H i s t o r y of Chicago offered to p r e s e n t t o t h e University t w o l u n e t t e s by Milled a n d E a r l e w h i c h w e r e p a i n t e d for t h e Chicago Exposition a n d w h i c h a r e now in its possession. After c o n s u l t i n g w i t h Professsr Wells a n d Professor W h i t e I accepted t h i s gift subject to t h e approval of t h e board. I t is t h e opinion b o t h of Professor Wells a n d P r o fessor White t h a t t h e s e l u n e t t e s h a v e considerable a r t i s t i c value a n d t h a t t h e y m a y very p r o p e r l y be added to our collections or possibly be placed in t h e a u d i t o r i u m as one of t h e decorative f e a t u r e s . Recommend, f u r t h e r , t h a t t h e l u n e t t e r e p r e s e n t i n g t h e r e t u r n of Ulysses b e placed u p o n t h e back w a l l above t h e s t a g e in t h e a u d i t o r i u m a n d t h a t a r e c o m m e n d a t i o n as to placing t h e l u n e t t e r e p r e s e n t i n g t h e origin of Ceramics be r e q u e s t e d from a committee consisting of t h e Supervising Architect, P r o fessor Wells, Professor L a k e a n d Professor Ricker.

Voted on motion of Mr. Hatch that the donation by the Field Museum of Natural History of the two lunettes of Millet and Earle be gratefully accepted and that the Secretary acknowledge the same to the museum. Voted on motion of Mr. Hatch that the recommendation with regard to the placing of these lunettes be adopted.

Recommendation from t h e Dean of t h e E n g i n e r i n g College t h a t P r o fessor B a k e r ' s a d m i n i s t r a t i v e d u t i e s in t h e d e p a r t m e n t of civil e n g i n e e r i n g for t h e coming year be assigned to Associate Professor Brooks, a n d t h a t P r o fessor B. S a n b d r n of Tufts College be a p p o i n t e d a s s i s t a n t professor of civil e n g i n e e r i n g for one y e a r from September 1, 1908, a t a s a l a r y of $1,750 for t h e year.

Voted on motion of Mrs. Alexander that the recommendation with regard to Professor Brooks be approved and that Professor Prank B.. Sanburn be appointed for the term and at the salary named.

4. A r e c o m m e n d a t i o n from t h e D e a n of t h e College of E n g i n e e r i n g t h a t Shelby S. R o b e r t s b e a p p o i n t e d for one y e a r a s s i s t a n t professor of r a i l w a y civil e n g i n e e r i n g in t h e University of Illinois a t a s a l a r y of $2,000, service a n d s a l a r y to begin S e p t e m b e r 1, 1908.

Mr. Shelby S. Boberts was appointed as'recommended on motion of Mrs. Alexander.
