Total 1,050 • 00 Funds .available for summer assistance and extras during the biennium 729 63 Total $7,834 63 In explanation of the above will say that Mr. Birdsall has already been appointed by the trustees. That Messrs. Calvert and Target are registered as students in the University and will devote part of their time to the work in water bacteriology, and will be appointed acting bacteriologists to the State Board of Health. Their salary will be paid from the State Board of Health funds. Mr. Hanzlik will carry on mineral water work, and Mr. Bachmann will assist in the sanitary chemical work. I am forwarding information blanks giving the training of these student assistants. I would respectfully request that Mr. L. I. Birdsall be given the additional title of Assistant- in Chemistry. Owing to the increased number of students taking water analysis, it will be necessary for me to ask him to devote a part of his time to instructional work. Following is a summary of the instructional work to be given in water analysis during the coming year: Hours. Students. Chemistry 10a Sanitary Water Analysis '2 8 Chemistry 10b Sanitary Water Analysis for engineers 2y2 7 Chemistry 11 Thesis in College 1 Chemistry 107 Research for graduates 1 In addition to this Mr. Birdsall has registered in Chemistry 107 and Messrs. Calvert and Hanzlik, in Chemistry 11, and Messrs. Target and Bachmann will do special work, which Professor Parr suggests, to be called Course 10c. Respectfully submitted,

Voted-on motion of Mrs. Alexander that the proposed budget for the Water Survey for the year ending June 30, 1908, be approved.

FINANCIAL REPORTS BY STUDENTS' ORGANIZATIONS. 9. A recommendation from the Council of Administration that in the future all managers of student organizations shall be required to submit to the council through its auditing committee a sworn statement of their receipts and expenditures, and that the notary connected with the office of the Registrar be authorized to take the affidavits of such managers without expense to the student organizations concerned.

Voted that said recommendation be approved.
