Meeting of October 19, 1907.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the "University of Illinois was held at TJrbana., October 19, 1907, pursuant to the following notice which was sent out by the secretary, October 12, 1907.

Upon the call of the President, Mr. W. L». Abbott, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at 9:00 o'clock a. m., Saturday, October 19, 1907, at the University, to consider communications from the president and other business duly presented.

When the board met pursuant to this call, the following members were present: Messrs. Abbott, Davison, Hatch, Lehman and Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Alexander, and Mrs. Busey; absent, Governor Deneen and Messrs. Blair and Madden. A letter was received from Mr. Blair stating that owing to a previous engagement he would be unable to be present at the meeting. President James was present. -

ALEXANDER MCLEAN.

President Abbott spoke of the death of Mr. McLean and appointed Mr. Hatch, Mrs. Alexander, and Dr. Davison a committee on resolutions. A memorandum concerning Mr. McLean^s connection with the board was presented by President James and referred to the committee. The report of the committee presented later and adopted was as follows:

ALEXANDER MCLEAN, DIED AT MACOMB, ILLINOIS, OCTOBER 1 1 , 1 9 0 7 .

Alexander McLean was appointed a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois by Governor .Shelby M. Cullom for the term of six years beginning with the annual meeting in March, 1877. He was appointed at the expiration of this term in 1883 for a second term of six years by Governor John M. Hamilton. By action of the General Assembly, the members of the Board of Trustees, except the ex-offlcio member.s were made elective in 1887, and Mr. McLean
