Meeting of July 6, 1907.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the Auditorium Annex in Chicago J u l y 6/1907, pursuant • to the following notice which was sent out by the Secretary J u n e 26th: • . Upon the call of the president of the board, Mr. W. L. Abbott, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at the Auditorium Annex in Chicago, at 9:00 o'clock a. m., Saturday, July 6, 1907, to take action Upon matters submitted for consideration, by President James, and to transact such other business as may be duly presented. When the board met pursuant to this call, the members present were Messrs. Abbott, Davison, Hatch, Lehman, McLean and Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Busey. Mr. Madden came in a little later. President James was present. The minutes of the meeting of the Executive Committee held J u n e 28, 1907, were considered. See p. 135. The resolution giving the chairman of the Executive Committee authority to take such steps as might be necessary to protect the interests of the University in the matter of laying a street car line across the University was confirmed. A suggestion in regard to Professor Forbes' salary was confirmed. Also the authority given the : president to appoint Messrs. Vernier, Flickinger, Kuhlman, Wilczynski, Dewsnup and McC'urdy. The recommendation with regard to Professor W. E. M. Goss was adopted. The recommendation with regard to fees of applicants for admission to the C. P . A. examination was adopted. Mr. Robert Buchanan was appointed a member of the board of examiners which examines candidates for certified public accountants for the term of three years from J u l y 1, 1907. The contract for furnishing cadet uniforms for the years 1907-8 and 1908-9 reported by the Comptroller, Professor S. W. Shattuck, was confirmed.

STREET CAR LINE ACROSS CAMPUS. 1. An opinion from Judge O. A. Harker, Counsel for the University, as to the right of the .Urbana and Champaign Railway, Gas and Electric Company to operate a car line over the campus of the University of Illinois, also a copy of a resolution relating to this same matter, passed by the last Legislature. Ordered to be printed in the minutes of the board. As to the right of the Urbana and Champaign Railway, Gas and Electric Company to operate its car line over the campus of the University of Illinois. I can find no record of a specific permission allowing the street railway company to cross the campus at any point. I do find, however, that at a
