UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

Meeting of December 19, 1905.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met at the University at 9:00 o'clock a. m., Tuesday, December 19, 1905. The members present were Messrs. Bullard, Davison, Lehman, McLean and Mrs. Alexander, Mrs. Evans, and Mrs. Busey; absent, Governor Deneen and Messrs. Abbott, Barber, Bayliss, and Kerrick. President James was present. The Secretary presented the minutes of the regular meeting of September 12, 1905, and the special meetings of October 17, 1905, and October 2J, 1905. These minutes were approved as presented. The vacancy on the Executive Committee, because of Mr. McKinley's resignation, was filled by the election of Mr. Lehman. Mr. Bullard announced that he had appointed Mr. Lehman in place of Mr. .McKinley on the following commitees: Buildings and Grounds, College of Medicine, and Engineering, and that he had made Mr. Abbott chairman of the Committee on Engineering.

MATTERS PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT.

1. The Dean of the College of Literature and Arts approves a request of Professor Frederick, of the Department of Art and Design, for an appropriation of $50 for the expenses of the public school drawing exhibit which is regularly held in the spring. Voted that such appropriation be made. 2. The Dean of the College of Literature and Arts requests an appropriation of from three to five hundred dollars for the cost of a course in accounting in the College of Literature and Arts, of two hours a week from six to ten weeks during the second semester of the current academic year, the amount to be charged to the appropriation for instruction in commerce. Voted that the President be given authority to make such appointment, and that the appropriation be made. '3. The Dean of the College of Engineering requests an appropriation of $750 for general college expenses for the years 1905 to 1907, to be charged to the appropriation for Engineering College equipment. Voted that such appropriation be made. 4. The Dean of the College of Engineering recommends the appointment of Mr. Edward L. Wenger as instructor in electrical engineering at a salary of $130 per month, from December 1, 1905, to July 1, 1906. Voted that such appointment be made.
