PEOCEEDINGS OF THE BOAKD OF TRUSTEES.

Meeting of July 2 1 , 1905.

The following call for a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was issued July 14, 1905:

"Upon the call of the Pesident, Mr. Bullard, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at the University, at 10 o'clock a. m., Friday, July 21, 1905, for the purpose of considering a report from the President in regard to appointments on the teaching force, and other business that may be brought before the Board."

When the Board was called to order the members present were Messrs. Abbott, Bullard, Kerrick and McLean and Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Evans; those absent were Governor Deneen and Messrs. Barber, Baylfes, Davison, McKinley and Mrs. Busey. President James was present. There being no quorum and no prospect that one could be secured, the Board adjourned.

Meeting of the Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, of the University of Illinois, July 2 1 , 1905. Immediately after the adjournment of the Board of Trustees, as stated in the record of its meeting of this date the Executive Committee convened, there being present two members, Mr. Bullard and Mrs. Alexander, and absent the other member, Mr. McKinley. The committee, in conference with the other members of the Board present, took action as follows: SUBJECTS SUBMITTED FOR THE CONSIDERATION OP THE BOARD BY PRESIDENT JAMES.

REPORT OF APPOINTMENTS MADE.

1. In accodance with the authority given by the Board at its last meeting, I have appointed H. S. Woods Assistant in Chemistry, at a salary of $600, in place of B. D. Ingles. George McPhail Smith, Instructor in Chemistry, at a salary of $1,000, in place of Mr. J. L. Sammis, resigned. F. K. Ovitz, Instructor in Chemistry, at a salary of $700, in place of K. W. Zimmerschied, resigned.
