UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

[June 9,

The Secretary presented letters from Mr. H. Swannell, of Champaign, President of the Illinois Pharmaceutical Association, stating that the Association had, last year, recommended that the Trustees of the University appoint a successor to Mr. Wm. M. Sempill, of Chicago, of the Advisory Board of the School of Pharmacy, from the following named persons: Gr. M. Baker and W. K. Forsythe, of Chicago, and Paul T. Schuh, of Cairo, and that the Association recommended this year the selection of a successor to Mr. A. E. Ebert, of Chicago, a member of the same Board, from the following named persons: Walter H. Gale, 44 Monroe St., Chicago, Fritz Lueder, Peoria, H. H. Green, Bloomington, A, G. Holmes, Aurora, T. S. Campbell, Pinkneyville. The Board appointed Mr. W. K. Forsythe, of Chicago, for the term expiring in 1906, and Mr. W. H. Gale, of Chicago, for the term expiring in 1907. The Secretary presented the following from the Alumni Association, the invitation being accompanied by tickets to the Alumni dinner. URBANA, I I I . , June 6, 1902. lo the Board of Irustees of the University of Illinois: The Alumni Association extends to you an invitation to attend the exercises of Alumni Day, June 10. at 10:30 a. m., in Physics Lecture Room, Engineering Hall, Mr. H. M. Beardsley, class of 79, of Kansas City, Mo., will make the address: Subject: " Civic Progress." The dinner will be given in the Armory at 12:30 p. m. Chairman Executive Committee of the Alumni Association. The Board voted to accept the invitation. On motion of Mr. Bullard, $100 or so much thereof as might be needed, was appropriated for printing and distributing the proceedings of this meeting of the Alumni Association.

T I L E DRAINAGE ON SOUTH FARM.

The Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture presented the following report which was adopted. URBANA, I I I . , June 9, 1902. lo the Board of Irustees of the University of Illinois: Your Committee to which was referred the matter of tile drainage on the south farm begs leave to submit the following report: Engineers were hired and lines run from the ponds which were to be drained. The minimum depth of tile laid in two feet and the maximum depth is seven and one-half feet. There were 2,124 feet of 6 inch tile 1,248 feet 5-inch tile, 1,003 feet 4-inch tile, and 80 feet of sewer tile used, making a total of 4,455 feet of tile put in. The expense was: Tile $104 48 Surveying and blue-prints 15 75 Hauling, laying, and covering 245 94
