M E E T I N G OF MARCH 14, 1899.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met in the Trustees' Room, Library Building, Urbana, Illinois, at 9 o'clock a. m., Tuesday, March 14, 1899. The members present were Messrs. Bayliss, Fulkerson, Hatch, McKay, McLean, Nightingale, and Smith and Mrs. Abbott, Mrs. Carriel, and Mrs. Flower; absent, Governor Tanner and Mr. Bullard. The minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees held December 14, 1898, and of the special meeting of the Board held J a n u ary 13, 1899, were presented by the Secretary and approved as presented.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The President then announced that the next order of business, was the election of officers and called for nominations for the position of President of the Board. Mrs. Flower nominated Mr. Alexander McLean, Mr. Bayliss nominated Mr. T. J Smith. Mr. Smith declined to be a candidate, and Mr. McLean was thereupon elected President of the Board for the ensuing year. On motion of Mr. McKay, Mr. W. L. Pillsbury was elected Corresponding Secretary and Recording Secretary and Registrar for the ensuing year. On nomination by Mr. McKay, Mr. Keith was elected Treasurer for the ensuing two years. On motion of Mr Smith it was voted that the Treasurer be required to give a bond in the penal sum of $750,000. On nomination by Mr. Smith, Mr. McKay was elected one member of the Executive Committee and on nomination by Mrs. Carriel, Mrs. Flower was elected a second member of the committee. On motion of Mrs. Flower, Dr. A. S. Draper was elected President of the University for the ensuing two years. Mr. H. B. Gurler, of DeKalb, representing the Illinois State Dairymen's Association, Mr. H. Augustine, of Normal, representing the Illinois State Horticultural Society, Messers. Hatch and Fulkerson, of the Board of Trustees, and Professors Burrill, Forbes, and Davenport, of the Faculty of the University, were elected members of the Advisory Board of the Agricultural Experiment Station.
