M E E T I N G OF D E C E M B E R 13, 1898.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met in the Trustees' room, Library hall, Urbana, Illinois, at 9 o'clock a. m., Tuesday, December 13, 1898. The members present were Messrs. Armstrong, Bullard, Freeman, McKay, McLean, Morrison, Raymond and Smith and Mrs. Flower and Mrs. Carriel, also President Draper; the members absent were Governor Tanner and Mr. Pearce. The Secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of September 20, 1898, and of the adjourned session of that meeting held September 29, 1898; also the minutes of the special meeting held November 12, 1898. Two errors in printing the report of the Committee on Instruction, found on pages 113 and 114 were corrected. By the first the figures "88" in the last line of page 113 were changed to 93, and in place of the first five lines on page 114 the following was substituted: Resolved, That ail communications pertaining to matters of business or to appointments, to be presented to the Board of Trustees for action, be first presented to President Draper for his examination and recommendation, and such other suggestions as he may deem proper. Also Mr. Bullard, chairman of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, asked to have inserted after the word "sent" in the first line, page 116 the words "by the chairman," and to change the figures "3,000" in the seventh line of the page to 1,000, and the "1,000" in eighth line to 3,000. I t was ordered that these changes be made. The minutes with these corrections and change were then approved.

To the Board of Trustees. I submit for vour consideration the following business: 1. A report from the architects of the Library Building and the Superintendent of Buildings, touching the condition of the walls and the heating and ventilation of said building.
