in particular, our appreciative recognition and sincere thanks for their distinguished and disinterested service to our University and to science. The resolution was adopted and the Secretary was directed to send a copy of it to the several persons named therein. AGRICULTURAL EXPERIMENT STATION. President Draper presented the following estimates of appropriations from U. S. Experiment Station funds needed for the quarter beginning October 1, 1898, and on motion of Mr. McLean the appropriations were made:

President Draper called attention to the desirability of putting synchronizing clocks in several of the University buildings, to bo connected with the Observatory, and run by electricity, and to control the call bells in these buildings. The matter was referred to the Committee on buildings and grounds to report upon later. President Draper also spoke of the desirability of discontinuing the carriage driveway on the north of Natural History Hall, and this matter was referred to the Committee on buildings and grounds with power to act. President Draper called attention to the 12th annual meeting of the Association of American Agricultural Colleges and Experiment Stations to be held in Washington in November, and suggested the appointment of delegates.
