Also t h a t t h e wall of one room in t h e basem e n t of t h e L i b r a r y B u i l d i n g be washed, re-calcimined, and p r o p e r l y oiled, for t h e p u r p o s e of d e t e r m i n i n g w h e t h e r or n o t spots would reappear. A c t i o n was postponed. T h e C o m m i t t e e on A g r i c u l t u r e m a d e t h e following r e p o r t :

URBANA, ILLINOIS, Aug. 16, 1899.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. 1. The Committee on Agriculture respectfully recommends that the departments of the College of Agriculture be known as those of Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Husbandry, Veterinary Science, and Horticulture, .and that Professor Holden be the head of the department of agronomy. 2. That the scholarships authorized in the College of Agriculture apply to special students, and tfiat the resolution establishing these scholarships passed at the meeting of the Board June 14th (see page 109), be changed to Tead as follows: Besolved, That the University receive into the College of Agriculture annually one student from each county, outside of Cook County, and one from each of the first seven congressional districts of the State, upon I the recommendation of the executive committee of the Illinois Farmers' Institute; that matriculation and incidental fees be remitted to the holders of such scholarships; that the benefits of the same be good for two years; and that special students be eligible thereto; provided, that the persons so recommended shall not have been previously in the University and shall comply with all the conditions of admission to the College of Agriculture. Should there be more than one candidate from a county or congressional district, one of them shall receive the scholarship of his county or district and the other or others may be assigned to vacancies which may exist in other counties or congressional districts, as is customary with state scholarships. Special students holding scholarships may, if they so desire and are properly qualified, take one or more studies in the Preparatory School on paying each semester two dollars for each subject. Your Committee asks to correct an error in the recommendation of June 27th in regard to the salary of Mr. Cliuton. Your Committee recommends that $800.00 be paid from the Experiment Station fund, and that none of his salary be paid from the Agricultural fund. Respectfully submitted,
