I t was ordered that for the present the Business Manager pay bills for water furnished the University at the rate of $1,000 a year, payi n g quarterly. On motion of Mrs. Flower, the Committee on buildings and Grounds was authorized and instructed to advertise for bids, and to let contracts for coal to be used by the University for the next year. President Draper presented the following estimates, furnished by the Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station, of appropriations needed for the current quarter ending June 30, 1898, and the next quarter ending September 30, 1898.

Appropriations from Experiment Station funds were made to meet these estimates. President Draper reported back, with his approval, the recommendations of Professor Forbes, Director of the State Laboratory of Natural History, with regard to appointments and salaries for the ensuing year beginning July 1, 1898, and the appointments were thereupon made, as follows:
