it; and believing further t h a t the results obtained will be creditable and satisfactory, we, the undersigned graduates of the school of architecture of the University of Illinois, respectfully petition your honorable board to submit the plans for the proposed buildings to competition, limiting said competition to alumni architects, and conducting it under rules and according to program prepared by the board of trustees and professor of architecture of the University of Illinois. The board then adjourned to meet at the Leland Hotel, in Springfield, at 7 o'clock p. m.

E V E N I N G SESSION.

The board having met pursuant to adjournment, the president announced the committee on legislation, Messrs. Morgan, Graham, Morrison, McKay, and, by order of the board, the president. The following statement was approved for publication: The board of trustees of the L^niversity of Illinois has unanimously resolved t h a t the University should be placed on a par with the best of t h e other state universities, and will ask the General Assembly of thi& State for ample means to carry its purpose into effect. The secretary was instructed to communicate a copy of this statement to the alumni association, and to ask the alumni to co-operate heartily with the trustees for the upbuilding of the University. The board then adjourned.
