The treasurer also reported t h a t he had bought $6,000 of Mattoon five per cent., twenty year, school bonds, paying therefor $150 premium and $30 accrued interest; and he asked for an appropriation of $180. This amount was appropriated from current funds. On motion of Mr. Cobb, i t was voted t h a t in section 6 of t h e plan of organization of t h e Agricultural Experiment Station, adopted March 21, 1888, t h e words "by the president of the board of trustees, and countersigned by t h e president of t h e board of direction of such station," be stricken out, and t h a t in their place these words be inserted: "As are university warrants issued for other purposes, in payment of bills approved by the president of t h e board of direction." The committee on instruction made t h e following report: To the Trustees of the University of Illinois, GENTLEMEN: Your committee on instruction begs leave to report t h a t in consideration of his services as regent of this University, Dr. John M. Gregory be elected professor emeritus in political economy, without for the present assignment to duty or salary, and t h a t t h e regent be instructed to notify Dr. Gregory of his election.
