The committee on sale of lands in Minnesota reported as follows: To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN:—Your committee reports t h a t Professor Shattuck visited the university lands in Pope county last month in order to close up some pending matters and to learn how existing conditions wrould probably affect land sales and what, if any, changes should be made in prices. The SW quarter of section 24-124-36, title to which was recently secured from the government, has been sold for $15 an acre, and as t h e sale was made to a man who had secured a tax title, which, though undoubtedly of no legal validity, was yet likely to make trouble, t h e sale is regarded as very fortunate. The wheat crop in Pops county is b u t one-half or two-thirds of last year's crop, so most likely t h e sale of land will be less t h e coming year. I t will be seen t h a t t h e price of more than two-thirds of t h e land sold has been $15 an acre. The sales have been as follows:

The executive committee of t h e faculty reported t h e following revision of t h e rules for t h e government of t h e students of t h e University:

R U L E S F O R G O V E R N M E N T OF STUDENTS.

These rules are t o be taken, not as arbitrary regulations, b u t as t h e normal laws of t h e University, necessary to its organization and operation as an institution. Every student of t h e University is, therefore, bound both by reason and by loyalty to observe these laws, upon which depends t h e free and healthy action of t h e institution whose benefits he seeks. In connecting himself with t h e University, t h e student neither loses the rights nor escapes t h e responsibilities of t h e citizen.

REGISTRATION, P A Y M E N T OF F E E S .

The two days preceding class formations a t t h e beginning of each term shall be known as registration days. A t this time each student shall file with t h e regent a list of studies desired for t h e term and will receive a class card. Delays in registration will be treated as absences. Delayed applications for registration must be accompanied with a specific statement showing reasons for not registering a t t h e proper time.
