UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

The letters containing t h e names of t h e authors of t h e several designs presented were then opened and it was found t h a t t h e design to which t h e first premium had been awarded was by George W. Bullard, class of 1892, Tacoma, Washington; t h a t t h e design to which the second premium had been awarded had been presented by Ralph W. Hart, class of 1892, of St. Joseph, Mo.; t h a t t h e third design was by J. C. Llewellyn, class of 1877, of Chicago; and t h e fourth, by P . T. Burrows, class of 1892, of Chicago, and J. P. Hubbell. On motion of Mr. Morgan, t h e secretary was instructed to request t h e authors of these several designs to donate them to t h e University. And i t was further voted to bind such as should be donated in a suitable portfolio and put them with t h e exhibit of t h e architectural department of t h e University a t t h e World's Fair, and afterwards in t h e cabinet of t h e department at t h e University. The finance committee made t h e following reports, which were severally adopted:

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN: Your finance committee recommends t h a t t h e sum of $1,700 be? appropriated for purchasing apparatus and instruments to be used in t h e testing laboratory, t h e sum to be expended under the supervision of t h e regent, Dr. Burriir, and t h e business agent, and to report to this board a t its next meeting. GENTLEMEN: Whereas, T h e legislature a t its recent session appropriated $6,000 for furnishing ^Natural History Hall and completing its heating apparatus, therefore be i t Besolved, T h a t a committee consisting of Richard P. Morgan, Dr. T. J. Burrill, and Professor S. W. Shattuck, be appointed to carry out t h e design of said appropriation; and t h a t t h e said sum of $6,000 be assigned for t h a t purpose.
