Mr. Webber, t h e mayor, some members of t h e city council, and other citizens of Urbana, were received by t h e board, and some time was devoted to discussion of drainage questions. On motion of Mr. McKay, t h e board appointed t h e committee on buildings and grouuds to m^et with t h e Urbana city council t h e next evening for further discussion of t h e same subject. The board then adjourned to meet at 8 o'clock a. m., Wednesday.

SESSION OF WEDNESDAY MORNING.

The board met pursuant to adjournment, the same members being present as on the preceding day, with t h e exception of Mr. McKay. The report from t h e Experiment Station was then considered. On motion of Mr. McLean, authority was given t h e board of direction to undertake t h e new work described in the report. On motion of Mr. Bullard, authority was given the board of direction t o expend station funds according to t h e askings and estimates submitted. The advance in t h e salaries of Messrs. Clinton and Gardner was approved. On motion of Mr. McLean, $100 was appropriated from current funds to be used for drainage purposes, along with t h e amount appropriated from station funds. On motion of Mr. McLean, it was voted to make t h e exchange of arms as recommended by Captain Hills. The business agent, Captain Hills, and t h e regent were gi?en authority to effect the exchange and to spend such amount from current funds as might be needed to defray t h e expenses of the change. The board then adjourned to meet at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

AFTERNOON SESSION.

The board met at 3 o'clock p. m., pursuant to adjournment. The president and secretary were authorized to execute a bond in t h e •sum of $10, t h e same being required to be filed with t h e collector of customs of the port of New York, in order t h a t certain photographs purchased by Professor Moss, for t h e use of t h e University, and with University funds, might be entered free of duty. The secretary reported t h a t t h e people of school district No. 117, Kingman township, Eenville county, Minnesota, wished to secure an acre in t h e southwest corner of N W i—8—116—34 for a school house site. On motion of Mr. Raymond, it was voted to sell to said district one acre of ground, situated as above described, for a school house site, with a clause in t h e conveyance providing t h a t when no longer so used t h e land revert to t h e University of Illinois.
