On motion of Mr. Shawhan, t h e Director of t h e S t a t e L a b o r a t o r y of N a t u r a l History was authorized t o provide, from t h e funds of the S t a t e L a b o r a t o r y available for t h a t purpose, and, as o p p o r t u n i t y m a y arise, for work in the library of the l a b o r a t o r y and for assistance in t h e p r e p a r a t i o n of his entomological reports, a t the r a t e of $1,000 a year, for t h a t purpose. The Board then t o o k a recess t o 1:30 p. m.

The r e p o r t was confirmed. On t h e proposition of affiliation with the University by the Chicago College of Physicians and Surgeons, which was referred t o the Executive Committee a t the last meeting of t h e B o a r d , the following report was m a d e :

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois.

GENTLEMEN: Your Executive Committee, to which was referred the proposition of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Chicago, will say that your Committee visited Chicago and met the members of the committee of the College, and examined the facilities of the College for instruction in medicine and surgery. We were well pleased with the institution, and believe that it is capable of doing thorough work. Your chairman submitted to the Attorney General of the state the question of the legality of accepting the proposition of the College. The letters are submitted as a part of this report.
