UNIVERSITY O F ILLINOIS.

Examinations of the senior class upon subjects pursued in the spring term must be completed one week before the end of t h a t term. A student may be advanced from one class rank to another only at the beginning of a term, and to secure such advancement he must, if in a regular course, have received credits for as many University studies as have been taken by students of t h a t course in the class he seeks to enter; and if a special or elective student, he must have received credits for as many University studies as have been taken in some one of the full University courses by the students of t h a t class; provided t h a t in t h e spring term students who have a reasonable prospect of graduating at the end of t h a t year may be ranked as seniors. Studies in the University courses pursued at other institutions or privately, may not be credited, except by vote of the Faculty.

R U L E S ON LIBRARY.

1. The library will be open for use during term time from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. each week day, except Saturday, when the time will be from 8 a. m. to 12 m. 2. Students will not go behind the railings or take books from the shelves except on permission of the librarian, but will apply to the attendant for books desired 3. Reserved books will not be delivered to any students except those who require the same in their studies. 4. Lexicons and text-books will not be given out for ordinary use in the study of lessons. 5. All books, pamphlets, or papers, must be returned to the attendant before the student using them leaves the room, except as hereafter provided. Students failing in this will forfeit the privileges of the library. 6. No student will take books, pamphlets, or papers, from the library hall; except t h a t bound volumes may be taken upon the written order of an instructor. 7. Any student injuring or losing any book or paper will pay the cost of the same, or the damage to the set or series to which it belongs. 8. The library hall is used as a reading room; hence all talking and unnecessary noise are strictly forbidden.

U N I V E R S I T Y BUILDINGS AND P R O P E R T Y .

The University buildings are to be closed at 6 p. m., and no room may be used at a later hour without permission from the professor in charge or the Regent. Each student is expected to have a careful regard for the general neatness and good order of the buildings and grounds of the University. Any student wilfully or carelessly injuring the property of the University is expected to pay for its replacement or repair. Smoking is not permitted in any of the public buildings of the University.

ORDER AND D I S C I P L I N E .

Attendance on the regular class and University exercises and the observance of good order in the buildings and on the grounds of the University are the duty of every student, and their enforcement is the duty of every member of the Faculty. I n case personal admonition of a delinquent student is not sufficient to its end, he will be reported to the Regent's office in.writing, and notice shall be given him by the Regent of such report, which notice shall be taken as a first warning. If a second such report shall be received by the Regent within one year concerning any student, he will be notified as before, and notice will be sent to his parent or guardian also, which action shall be taken as a second warning.
