PROCEEDINGS OF BOARD OF TRUSTERS. 169 As is well known, the pure-bred cattle industry has been greatly depressed for several years. A year ago it was confidently believed by many t h a t an advance in prices wa, certain during the year. Prices for good beef cattle have somewhat advanced, but breeding stock have been almost unsalable. The valuation of the cattle on the farms is low, much lower than such cattle were worth a few years since, but it is above what they would be worth for beef. I t is hoped there may be some advance in the next four months. The few sales t h a t have been made have been at very low prices. Horses have also fallen off in price the last year. As a whole, the live stock on the farms is more valuable, intrinsically, than at any former time., and could be sold for more than it has cost, even with the present depressed prices. Respectfully submitted, Cx. E. MORROW, Professor of Agriculture. I present, also, the quarterly report of the Board of Direction of the Agricultural Experiment Station: A G R I C U L T U R A L E X P E R I M E N T STATION. To the Regent of the University.
