The report from the department of agriculture was referred to the Farm Committee. Adjourned to meet Wednesday at 8:30 a. m.

SECOND DAY'S SESSION.

The Board convened at 8:30 a. m. Present: State Superintendent Edwards, Trustees Bennett, McKay, McLean, Millard, Pullen and Shawhan. The following resolution of Trustee Bennett was unanimously adopted:

Resolved, That the request of C. M. Weed, to be relieved from his engagement with the Laboratory of Natural History, April 1,1888, be granted; and that in releasing him from his engagement this Board desires to express its appreciation of the able and faithful manner in which he has discharged the duties of his position. He carries with him to his new field of labor the kindest wishes of every member of this board for a brilliant and successful career in his chosen vocation.

On recommendation from the Director of the Laboratory, Mr. J o h n Marten was appointed assistant in entomology in the State Laboratory of Natural History, with a salary of $800 per annum, vice Weed, resigned. The Business A-gent submitted the following report, which was received, and referred to the Auditing Committee:

JS. M. Millard, Esq., President Board of Trustees University of Illinois: SIR: I have the honor to present herewith my report as Business Agent for the three months ending February 29,1888. Paper A is a list of current appropriations, with receipts and expenditures under the same, for the six months ending February 29, 1888. Paper B is a statement of the condition of the State appropriations February 29, 1888. Paper C is a list of vouchers, 20] to 450, presented for auditing. Paper D is an estimate of receipts and expenses for the six months ending September 1,1888, from current funds. Respectfully submitted, S. W. SHATTUCK, Business Agent. March 13,1888.
