The report was accepted, and referred to a committee, consisting of Messrs. Gardner and Sabin, for audit. The Regent and Executive Committee were instructed to answer a certain number of questions received from the Senate Committee on Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges. Mr. Pickrell offered the following resolution :

Resolved, T h a t t h e H e a d F a r m e r , b y a n d w i t h t h e a d v i c e of t h e E x e c u t i v e C o m m i t t e e , b e a u t h o rized to p u r c h a s e a n a d d i t i o n a l S h o r t H o r n heifer or cow,» a n d t h a t a n a m o u n t sufficient t o p a y for said S h o r t H o r n c o w or heifer, b e a p p r o p r i a t e d o u t of s u c h f u n d s as m a y a c c r u e from t h e sale of s u r p l u s t h o r o u g h b r e d stock, n o w on h a n d .

The Regent and Executive Committee were instructed to open correspondence with view to employ a Professor of Agriculture, and a lady principal for the next academic year. The hall over the Library was assigned for the Art collections and Models. The Board took a recess until three o'clock P. M., to witness the drill of the University Battalion. The Board re assembled at 5:15 P. M. The Faculty were directed to lay before the Executive Committee a schedule of charges and fees, proposed charge for use and waste of material and tools in the different practical departments. The Faculty was also directed to submit to the June meeting of this Board plans, etc., in regard to representation of this University at the Centennial Exhibition.
