Resolved, That the Committee on Faculty and Courses of Study, be instructed to consider the practicability of extending the advantages of the University to young women, and to report to this Board at its next meeting.

Mr. Brown, of Chicago, was excused by vote of the Board, at his own request, but before leaving the hall expressed bis desire to record his vote in the affirmative of Mr. Burroughs' substitute. The yeas and nays being called on Mr. Burroughs' substitute, it resulted in—yeas, 10 ; nays, 10 ; and it was therefore lost. Mr. Edwards moved to amend Mr. Wright's substitute by adding, after the words u male students," the clause, " as soon as means are at our command to furnish proper buildings for the purpose." Mr. Wright's substitute, as amended by Mr. Edwards, was adopted. The Treasurer's Report was read, and, with the Book-keeper's books, was referred to the Finance Committee.
