Unravel the mysteries of equine behavior in this session on horse body language. Discover the marvels of milk with Dr. Hurley, professor of animal science. Get ready for an interactive session on the art of butter making, milk extraction and much more. Explore the ruminant digestive system with Dr. Hutjens and learn about large animal nutrition. Check out one of ExplorACES most popular exhibits! Watch as students interpret music in creative floral designs. Eat a free roast beef sandwich and sample some horseradish while you learn all about this specialty crop. Illinois leads the nation in horseradish production. Come get your hands dirty and see the dark underbelly of Illinois agriculture. Take a tour of American and Illinois soils without leaving your seat and get a bonus take-home gift! Investigate crop sciences and test your knowledge of plants, agronomy and agriculture. Explore the facts and fallacies using “I-clickers” which poll the audience. This mini class lasts about 20 minutes. Why do egg whites change from transparent to opaque when heated? Why does cream becomes a fluffy and delicious treat when whipped? Come learn about the chemistry behind these changes.
