The people of the State, through their Representatives in the General Assembly, have generously supported it since it opened in 1868. Because of this generous support, there has been created on the UrbanaChampaign campus, and in Chicago, one of the leading universities of the world. It is an institution at which the sons and daughters of the people may secure the training to enable them to take their proper places in the world of tomorrow; an institution whose scholarly findings and whose research in the sciences plays an important part in advancing the life and work of the people. W e want you to make use of the University's facilities, and to learn something of the work it is doing. W e hope that your stay will be interesting and profitable, and that you may return on other occasions.
