An intensive program of 1. -guage instruction is created by the need for men qualiied to enter special branches of the ivicc. CREDIT ADJUSTMENTS A series of regulations have been put into effect for allowing credit to and making graduation a d j u s t m e n t s for s t u d e n t ! who leave the University to enter the a r m e d services or to go | under certain conditions) into war industries. Both u n d e r g r a d u a t e and professional students may receive credit for one-half of a semester after completion of seven weeks of work and full credit after completion of twelve weeks of work. Seniors who have completed the seventh week of the semester in which they would normally graduate may be recommended for a degree provided their scholastic standing is satisfactory. Graduate students, likewise, may obtain credit for work done in the semester in which they must w i t h d r a w for services pertaining to the national defense. T h e s e regulations were introduced to mitigate the hardships in loss of w o r k incurred by students who enlist or are called into service in mid-term. ADMISSION W I T H O U T A H I G H SCHOOL D I P L O M A A senior high school student enrolled in his last semester, and within a month of graduation from an accredited school which closes after t h e opening date of a University term, may be admitted to the University even t h o u g h he has not received a diploma of graduation. As a condition to admission under this a r r a n g e m e n t the student m u s t submit evidence showing that he would have graduated if he had remained in school until the end of the semester. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Extracurricular projects have been organized to supplement the special courses which have been added to the regular p r o g r a m of instruction. Cooperation with the c o m m u n i t y is effected p ticu larly where c o m m u n i t y interests touch University interests.
