Everyone felt that the committee on arrangements deserved a special vote of thanks for such a delightful dinner and program. The evening was not all devoted to levity, however. It was a source of genuine satisfaction to hear that unemployment among our graduates is gradually getting less acute, to listen to the encouraging reports of scholarships awarded from our Endowment Fund and to learn of the growth of the Adah Patton Memorial Fund. We may well be proud of these two contributions to library progress, at the same time, with our rapidly growing list of alumni, we should consider that e have just made a beginning. Think how much more could be accomplished every graduate were an active, contributing member of the Alumni Associaon! Whatever is done in the name of the Alumni Association reflects credit on all the graduates of the school, whether members of the Association or not; each and every one of us owes the chance to carry on our chosen work to the school that gave us the training and keeps an ever watchful eye on our professional progress. Is it so little to ask that we, in turn, join the Association and pay one dollar ($1.00) a year, or, if we prefer, get it all over at once and Pay twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for a life membership? Even selfish reasons would justify us, for an active alumni group means a stronger school and the •ronger the school the more valuable is a degree from it. Think it over! This year, the American Library Association is coming Southeast to historic and beautiful Richmond. The splendid highways which lead to Richmond from a U parts of the country will, we hope, tempt many of you to make the trip by njotor, and those of you who cannot come that way, will have the advantage of the new air-conditioned trains which make traveling a joy. In other words, there is every inducement for you to come and we hope the Illinois dinner will be the largest one vet held. ^ g. „ Cordially yours, OLA M. WYETH DENVER MEETING The annual dinner and meeting of the University of Illinois Library School Ssociation was held at the Shirley-Savoy Hotel, Thursday, Tune 27, 1935, with p n c l K. Howe, President, presiding. rpi ' "* beautifully decorated with columbines (the state ilower).
