We must not omit Mr. Hertzbcrf who. with his daughter, drove down that afternoon and deputed the precious volume in the hands of the Chairman. The food was Spoil. The floral decorations were unusually lovely and the company very happy. Beautiful and appropriate place-cards were designed for the occasion ^iul contained a list of speakers with the toasts to which each responded. Librarians in the Making: The Students Mrs. Bertha Cooley The Finished Product: The Alumni Miss Bertha Schneider Greetings from New York and Texas...Mrs. Margaret Williams Jones The Rare Book Miss Simpson Response Mr. Windsor The speeches were quite brief, rather informal and well received by i auditors. We had learned that Mr. Windsor had been wondering just khat kind of a speech he was expected to make but as one of us said, "It ^loesn't make any particular difference what kind of a speech Mr. Windsor prepares, he won't give it," and he didn't! His response was brief and (quite to the point and was the climax of a very happy occasion. A good many telegrams of congratulations were received during the dinner, among them were messages from groups of alumni in Denver, fcvansville, Chicago, Kansas City, Berkeley, Akron, Pasadena, Iowa City, who, unable to attend the celebration in Urbana, were having dinners of their own in honor of the occasion. The following out-of-town alumni were present, Frances Ambuhl, Mary J.
