Absence^ Before and After Vacations and Inspection Tript Studenta absent from claasee immediately preceding or following a vacation or an inspection trip are excluded from the final examination* in the courses from which they have absented themselres, and are dealt with as are those students who absent themselves from examinations without proper excuse (see Rule 33). Disabilities incurred by failure to observe the limits of vacation and inspection periods are assessed by the Senate Committee on Discipline. Students who are forced to miss classes because of illness in the hospital, death in the family, or other unusual emergency, may file with the Dean of Men and the Dean of Women requests in writing for relief from the penalty imposed by this rule, together with supporting evidence. These requests will be verified by the Deans of Men and Women and forwarded with recommendations to the associate and assistant deans of the colleges and directors of the schools, who will take final action on the requests. 26. Special Discipline for Repeated Absence If the repeated absence from classes of any student seems to the dean of the college a matter requiring discipline, the case may be reported to the Committee on Discipline for action. DISCIPLINE 27. Basis for Discipline The University reserves the right to exclude at any time students whose conduct is deemed undesirable or prejudicial to the University community's best interest, examples of which, without excluding others, are gambling, visiting or loitering in the vicinity of places of ill-repute, violations of law involving moral turpitude, intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
