more than 1,400 labels were then drafted and revised. Permission was obtained to use more than 700 images. Graphic designers created maps and original artwork. The interior designs for the display cases were drawn using a computer-based 3D imaging program so that the staff could visualize the exhibits in realistic detail before the cases were constructed. Once the designs were complete, the staff began building artifact mounts to the specifications of each object. With the cases in place, installation of artifacts and labels began. The galleries sprang to life.
