and following consultation with the Executive Committee of the College 1 and with the Chancellor at Urbana. The date set for Dr. McGuire's assumption of duties is occasioned by a longstanding commitment: During the 1967-68 academic year he will be Ford Visiting Research Professor at the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh. In the interim period, i.e., for the academic year 1967-68, an Acting Dean of the College is being appointed. Dr. McGuire succeeds Dr. Paul M. Green whose service with the University as Dean will terminate on August 31, 1967. The Executive Vice-President and Provost, the Chancellor at Urbana, and the Dean of the Graduate College endorse this recommendation.

On motion of Mr. Swain, this appointment was approved.

ACTING DEANSH1P OF THE COLLEGE OF COMMERCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. URBANA (2) The Chancellor at Urbana has recommended that Professor Vernon K. Zimmerman, presently Associate Dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration at the Urbana-Champaign campus, be appointed Acting Dean of the College effective September 1, 1967, and continuing through June 30, 1968, and that he be given additional salary in the amount of $1,200 for this period. The recommendation is made after consultation with the Executive Committee of the College. The Executive Vice-President and Provost concurs. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Clement, this appointment was approved.

CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PERSONNEL SERVICES BUILDING, URBANA (3) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend assignment of $66,594 from Urbana-Champaign Contract Research Reserve and award of the following contracts for construction of a Personnel Services Building to be located on Gregory Drive immediately west of the University Press Building, the award being in each case to the lowest bidder based upon the Base Bid and recommended alternates. The project will provide office, testing, interview, and related facilities for the University Office of Nonacademic Personnel. General — C. A. Petry & Sons, Inc., Champaign Base bid $243 600 00 Deductive alternates: Elimination of assignment of other contracts to the general contractor 13 500 00 Substitution of gypsum d^'wall for ceramic tile as specified 2 800 00 Deletion of storm sash panels or self-storing combination storm sash 800 00 Substitution of ponderosa pine door frames for birch door frames as specified 2 000 00 Subtotal $224 500 00
