During World W a r I he served as President of the Academic Board and Director of the United States School of Military Aeronautics at the University of California. His prominence in Aeronautical Engineering is further illustrated by his services in the following capacities, in addition to his teaching and research: Member, Advisory Council, Hancock Foundation School of Aeronautics, Santa Maria, California. Member, Daniel Guggenheim Medal Fund, 1934-1937. Chairman, National Committee for the Award of W. E. Boeing Scholarships, 1930-1938, and National Committee for the Award of United Air Lines Scholarships, since 1939. Member, Advisory Committee on Engineering Defense Training since 1940. Consultant in Survey of Federal Research for the National Resources Committee, 1937-1938. Founder Member, Institute of Aeronautical Sciences. Member, United States Naval Institute. Doctor Woods has expressed his willingness to serve in this capacity and on the terms indicated. The University is fortunate in being able to secure his services. O n m o t i o n of D r . Livingston, Dr. Luken, Mr. McKelvey, D r . Meyer, M r . Nickell; no, n o n e ; absent, M r . Green, M r . Karraker. SCHOLARSHIP AND LOAN F U N D FROM W . K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION (18) The W. K. Kellogg Foundation of Battle Creek, Michigan, has made a grant to the University of $4,000 to be used for scholarships ($3,000) and loans ($1,000) to students in occupational therapy in accordance with the terms agreed upon by the Foundation and the President of the University. The scholarships will be awarded by the University Standing Committee on Special Undergraduate Scholarships. The Committee will act on recommendations from the Dean of the College of Medicine in the selection of candidates. The number of scholarships to be awarded will depend on the number of students who qualify for such aid. The loan fund will be administered in the same way as other University loan funds, but the interest rate will be 2^4 per cent (a stipulation made by the Kellogg Foundation) instead of the 4 per cent requirement of other University loan funds. AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE (19) Insurance on University automotive equipment expires April 5, 1944. On the basis of bids received, the Purchasing Agent, the Director of the Physical Plant Department, and the Comptroller recommend that insurance for comprehensive public liability, property damage, and damage to equipment, for 70 passenger cars, 60 trucks, and six federal-owned trucks, be placed with the C. A. Atwood Insurance Agency. It is desirable, for convenience, to have a local agent handle the claims. C. A. Atwood, Champaign, representing the American Employer's Insurance Company and the Employer's Fire Insurance Company, and H o w a r d B. H a r e , Chicago, representing the Springfield Fire and Marine Insurance Company, and the Employers Liability Assurance Corp., Ltd., quoted the same price of $1,479.94, covering 136 units. I recommend approval. T h e Comptroller presented this item. O n m o t i o n of D r . M e y e r , this i n s u r a n c e w a s placed as recommended.
