APPOINTMENT OF HOMER L. MILLER TO BOARD OF EXAMINERS IN ACCOUNTANCY (15) A recommendation that Mr. Homer L. Miller, C.P.A., resident partner and manager of the Chicago office of Lybrand, Ross Brothers, and Montgomery, be appointed to the Board of Examiners in Accountancy for a term of three years, beginning July 1, 1934, vice Mr. Lewis Ashman, whose term expires on that date.

On motion of Mr. Armstrong, this appointment was made.

ALLERTON AMERICAN TRAVELING SCHOLARSHIPS (16) A report that Dean Farrar Hilfinger, Class of 1935, of Urbana, and James Marion Hunter, Class of 1935, of Urbana, of the Department of Architecture, are the junior students who ranked highest this year in the courses in the History of Architecture and have therefore been awarded the Allerton American Traveling Scholarships for 1934.

This report was received for record.

KATE NEAL KINLEY MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP (17) A report that Miss Evelyn Gladys Swarthout has been appointed to the Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship; and that Miss Miriam Buchholz has been appointed alternate.

This report was received for record.

E. A. WALLACE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS (18) A report that J. A. C. Schulte and Wayne Munsch, of Havana, have been nominated by the Board of Education of Havana, Illinois, to hold the E. A. Wallace Memorial Scholarships for the academic year 1934-1935.

These appointments were confirmed.

WENSEL MORAVA LOAN FUND (19) A report from the Comptroller that he has received from the First National Bank of Chicago, executor of the estate of Wensel Morava, the sum of $81,200 covering final settlement of the Wensel Morava bequest to the University. The sum of $80,000 represents the principal of the bequest which is to form an endowment for certain scholarships. The remainder represents interest at five per cent from December 2, J 933i t n e d a t e designated by the Court from which interest would be paid on the bequest, less the sum of ?8oo already paid the University on this account.

ADVANCE DEPOSIT OF FEES IN UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL (20) A recommendation from the Principal of the University High School, the Dean of the College of Education, and the Comptroller that the following regulation be adopted: "Students who wish to enter either the sub-freshman or special group freshman classes of the University High School will be examined by the Principal and those who are successful will be pre-registered by the Principal in the spring. Such students will be required to pay a deposit fee of $5.00 on or before a date in June to be fixed each year by the Comptroller and the Principal. This deposit will be refunded if the Principal is notified, on or before a date in August to be fixed each year by the Comptroller and the Principal, that the student cannot attend. Otherwise, it shall be applied as part payment of his fees for the first semester. In case he does not enter at that time, the deposit will be forfeited." I concur in this recommendation. As it was necessary to put the plan into operaj tion at once, if it is to be used this year, I authorized the Business Office to go ahead with the arrangements for this year.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, this regulation was adopted.
