GIFTS T O T H E UNIVERSITY (34) The following report of gifts received by the University since the last report: An etching of Robert Louis Stevenson made by the late Jacques Reich, from his wife, Mrs. Caroline Bellinger Reich, of Urbana, Illinois. A contribution of $100 from the Clay Products Association for materials used in the "Clay Sewer Pipe" cooperative investigation.

REPORT OF PURCHASES (35) The following report of purchases authorized by the President since the last report: 1. One Caterpillar Diesel 50 Tractor to replace tractor which has been in use since August, 1925, from the Central Illinois Tractor and Equipment Company of Bloomington, Illinois, at a cost of $4,545 less allowance for old tractor, making a total of $4,495. 2. One 2-ton truck with stake body to replace old truck, from the H. E . Daniels Company, of Champaign, at a net cost (after allowance for old truck) of $1,135.51. 3. Steam valves and traps from the C. A. Dunham Company, Chicago, a t a cost of $1,072.44. This is a non-competitive item. 4. One car of steel pipe amounting to $1,442.01 from the Field and Shorb Company, of Decatur, Illinois, and one car from Hagerty Brothers Company, of Peoria, Illinois, amounting to $1,445.91. The total cost is $2,887.92 F.O.B., Urbana. Quotations secured from several firms were the same in accordance with the N.R.A. Code. The concerns who received the order were selected on the basis of reliability and service. 5. Ten automobiles (2 sedans, 1 coach, 6 coupes to replace present equipment, and 1 coupe as additional equipment)—the annual replacement of Federal Extension cars—from the E. V. Kirby Motor Company, the low bidder, at a cost of $2,571.15. 6. Two hundred boiler tubes, from the A. M . Castle and Company a t a cost of $1,294.92, for the Physical Plant. 7. One car of gasoline from the Standard Oil Company, the low bidder, at a total cost of $1,000, for the Physical Plant stock. 8. Electric switchboard meters and charts, from the J. W. Murphy Company, of Indianapolis, the low bidder, at a cost of $1,229, F.O.B. Indianapolis, for recording the electrical load at the Power Plant and to be used in the study of the Power Plant which was authorized by the Board.
