Miss Ruth Crum, Dispensary Clerk in the College of Medicine, six weeks sick leave, without pay, from May 12, 1934; she has already had two weeks sick leave and four weeks vacation with pay, to which she is entitled under the statutes of the Board. 7. Miss Cleo Fitzsimmons, Extension Specialist in Junior Club Work, one month without pay from August I, in addition to her month's vacation, for the purpose of travel abroad.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR J . W. SWAIN (19) A request from Associate Professor J. W. Swain, of the Department of History, for a sabbatical leave of absence during the second semester of the year 1934-35 on full pay, under the rules of the Board governing such leaves. The Department will take care of his work during his absence without additional expense to the University, I approve this recommendation.

On motion of Mrs. Hopkins, this leave was granted.

AMENDMENT OF C. P. A. REGULATION (20) The Board of Examiners in Accountancy and the Committee on Accountancy recommend: 1. T h a t Section 33 of the present University regulations "For the Conduct of Examinations for Certified Public Accountants" be amended to read as follows: (The changes in the present section are in italics.) A candidate who passes in Theory of Accounts and Practical Accounting and fails in one or both of the other examination subjects (Law and Auditing), with a grade not lower than 60 in either subject, or a candidate who passes in Auditing and Law and fails in Theory of Accounts and Practical Accounting, with a grade not lower than 60, who presents himself for re-examination at either one of the next two examinations may be credited with the subject or subjects in which he has received passing grades in the previous examination and will be required to write only on the subject or subjects in which he previously failed, such re-examination to be without fee. Such a candidate who does not appear at either of the next two examinations or who having appeared, fails in the subject or subjects he is required to write, must, if he subsequently appears for examination, write on all of the prescribed subjects and pay the usual examination fee ($25.00). A candidate for re-examination who fails to meet the provisions of the above paragraph must repeat the entire examination and pay the usual examination fee. 2. The adoption of the following supplementary new rule applying to candidates who fail and do not qualify under Section 33: A candidate who fails in the examination so that he is not eligible for re-examination under rule 33, may not present himself for re-examination until at least one examination shall have intervened, and then only on his presentation of satisfactory evidence that he has made further preparation in the subjects in which he failed. CERTIFICATE (21) A recommendation that the certificate of Certified Public Accountant be awarded to John Cameron Masson as of May 22, 1934, who passed the May, 1932, C. P. A. examination.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, this certificate was awarded.

COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATION OF MONOLITHIC CONCRETE WALLS (22) A recommendation for the approval of an agreement with the Portland Cement Association for a cooperative investigation of monolithic concrete walls by the Engineering Experiment Station. This agreement is drawn for a period of eight months beginning May 1,1934, with provisions for its extension, and the Association agrees to pay the University $1,800 for the expenses of the investigation.
