CHANGE IN STATUS OF DEANS M. T. McCLURE A N D R. D. CARMICHAEL (i) A recommendation that Acting Dean M. T. McClure of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences be appointed Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and that Acting Dean R. D. Carmichael of the Graduate School be appointed Dean of the Graduate School, effective today. In accordance with the statutes these appointments are recommended for the present fiscal biennium.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, these recommendations were adopted.

APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR M. L. ENGER AS DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING A N D DIRECTOR OF THE ENGINEERING EXPERIMENT STATION (2) A recommendation that Professor Melvin L. Enger, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, be appointed Dean of the College of Engineering and Director of the Engineering Experiment Station beginning July 1, 1934, a t n ' s present salary rate of $6,400, subject to such adjustment, effective September 1, as may be decided on by the Board when the budget for 1934-35 is approved. This recommendation is made after consultation with the members of the Executive Committee of the college and is for the present fiscal biennium, as provided by the statutes of the University.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, these recommendations were adopted.

APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR FRED B. SEELY AS HEAD OF T H E DEPARTMENT OF THEORETICAL AND APPLIED MECHANICS (3) A recommendation that Professor Fred B. Seely be appointed Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics on indefinite tenure beginning July I, 1934, at his present salary rate of $5,140, subject to such adjustment, effective September 1, as may be decided on by the Board when the budget for 1934-35 ' s approved. This recommendation is submitted after consultation with the Acting Dean of the College and with members of the Department of professorial rank, as provided by the University statutes.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, this appointment was made.

APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR O. A. LEUTWILER AS HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (4) A recommendation that Professor 0 . A. Leutwiler be appointed Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering on indefinite tenure beginning July I, 1934, at his present salary rate of $5,560, subject to such adjustment, effective September I, as may be decided on by the Board when the budget for 1934-35 *s approved. This recommendation is submitted after consultation with the Acting Dean of the College and with members of the Department of professorial rank, as provided by the University statutes.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, this appointment was made.

APPROPRIATION FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR MEN (5) A recommendation that an appropriation of $1,800 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to the Department of Physical Education for Men to supplement the Expense and Equipment appropriation for the current year. This additional appropriation is needed because towels which were ordered at the end of last year, to be paid for from the appropriation for the last fiscal year, were not delivered until July 1 and were charged against this year's budget.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Williams, Mr. Barrett; no, none; absent, Mrs. Hopkins.

APPROPRIATION FOR UNIVERSITY COUNSEL (6) A recommendation that an appropriation of $500, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to the University Counsel to supplement his expense and equipment budget for the current fiscal year.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Williams, Mr. Barrett; no, none; absent, Mrs. Hopkins.
