American Society for Testing Materials, $100 as a contribution to the investigation of cast-iron pipe which is being carried on in the Engineering Experiment Station. This report was received for record.

AGREEMENT W I T H CITY OF CHAMPAIGN FOR FIRE T E L E P H O N E SERVICE

(22) A report that the Comptroller and the Secretary have been authorized to execute an agreement with the City of Champaign for the installation of emergency fire telephone service, through the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, between the University Fire Station and the Champaign Fire Department, at a rental of $15.75 a month beginning March r, 1934. The University leans heavily on the local fire departments for fire protection. Until the University has adequate fire protection of its own, these arrangements, and the expenses involved, are necessary.

This report was received for record. On motion of Mr. Williams, the Committee on Buildings and Grounds was requested to study the matter of fire protection and report to the Board.

REPORT O F PURCHASES

(23) The following report of purchases authorized by the President since the last report: From Edward Hines Lumber Company of Chicago, two cars of lumber consisting of maple, white pine, and birch for use by the Physical Plant Division on repair jobs at a cost of $2,934 f.o.b. Urbana. From Lyon Metal Products, Incorporated, 2,925 combination padlocks for use on student lockers in the Men's Gymnasia at a cost of $2,193.75 (75 cents each). From Scott Paper Company, 340 cases of paper towels at a cost of $1105 f.o.b. Urbana.
