QUARTERLY REPORT OF T H E COMPTROLLER

(16) The quarterly report of the Comptroller to the Board of Trustees as at September 30, 1933. This report was referred to the Finance Committee for examination and report.

SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON RADIO STATION

On motion of Mr. Trees, the President of the Board was requested to appoint a special committee to investigate and to do what can be done to obtain permission for the University radio station to operate at its maximum capacity. President Barrett appointed Mr. Karraker, Mrs. Freeman, and Mr. Williams to serve on this committee.

RENEWAL OF POPE MORTGAGE

Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, presented a report that the administrator of the estate of Mr. B. W. Pope proposes to pay approximately one-half of the principal sum ($5,000) of the farm mortgage loan held by the Board as one of its investments of trust funds and requests an extension of not more than $3,000 of the loan for three years, with the privilege of paying all or any part of the loan, with interest, at any time before maturity. On motion of Mr. Trees, this extension was authorized.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Mr. Trees reported that the Finance Committee had examined the report of the Treasurer presented at the last meeting. This report was received for record.

INVESTMENT OF TRUST FUNDS

Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, presented a report recommending that approximately $17,000 of trust funds be invested in the following securities, at the market price: Issue Amount Illinois Bell Telephone Co., 5% 1956 $5 000 Duquesne Light Co., V/iVo 1967 5 000 Commonwealth Edison Co., 5% 1953 7 000 more or less On motion of Mr. Trees, these investments were authorized.

AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC ON GREEN STREET

Mr. Armstrong reported that the Committee on Buildings and Grounds had investigated automobile traffic on Green Street where it crosses the campus, and that the Committee regarded the present conditions unsatisfactory and dangerous to students entering and leaving the campus. On motion of Mr. Armstrong, the Acting President of the University was instructed to take whatever steps may be necessary to secure a change in State Route 10 so that it shall not go through the grounds of the University. On motion of Mr. Barr, the Acting President was instructed to ask
